This is the newest design featuring hand-blown Venetian-style glass beads. The Venetian glass earrings are among the most popular I've made, and with good reason: They're elegant earrings that are incredibly versatile. They're absolutely unique (don't worry about anyone else wearing the same earrings!), transcend trends, and will never go out of style. They are also perfect for virtually any occasion, at any time of year. This is a design that reminds me of the docks at the Jersey Shore, from the beacon lights and lanterns to the glass floats of my childhood and the ropes along the waterfront fish market. Good news: This style can be made with white-striped clear blown glass balls OR teal with yellow stripes ~ with accent beads to match. Convo me for details.
The aforementioned hand-blown glass balls (~11-12mm) are clear red and hollow, so their black swirling stripes are slightly visible from the back as well as the front.* 6mm silver balls embossed with a rope design top the glass; the earrings are finished on top with tiny sterling silver balls. // The glass balls are cradled from below with Fallen Angel Brass' antiqued brass flower bead caps (black), which are accented by 2mm sterling balls (extending from their handcrafted headpins).
Bead-to-bead, the earrings measure 1 inch. They hang 1-1/2" from sterling silver French wires.** Please note that the earrings pictured have been sold. Yours will be identical in design, with the only subtle differences in each hand-blown bead (stripe width and curve changes a little bit from bead-to-bead). Please convo me with any questions.
Your earrings will be accompanied by a handmade card that describes the wires & beads. Gift wrapping is free upon request, and we are happy to mail your present directly to the recipient, accompanied by your personal note on a special card.
*The hollow Venetian-style glass beads are hand-blown, and as such, each bead is different -- You may notice an occasional tiny bubble or teeny crack, and the beads will differ slightly in size, shape, and stripe size & swirl pattern; this is characteristic of any hand-blown piece of glass, and is much of the charm of owning a piece that is absolutely one-of-a-kind. // You might expect that these delicate-looking, hollow beads would be extremely fragile, but I've found them to be surprisingly sturdy -- They've survived drops onto tile and wood floors, as well as a couple of chewing/pawing incidents with our ornery dog. Of course, this is no gurarantee that this will ALWAYS be the case, and you should use common sense care with any glass or crystal beads, but, with normal use, these beads should hold up well. I'll include care instructions wthyour earrings.
**These beautiful ear wires are made from Argentium silver. Argentium just may be the metal of the future. Made entirely from reclaimed silver, Argentium is purer than sterling -- as well as being harder, shinier, and more resistant to tarnish. It is the brightest of the white metals -- even platinum -- and is tolerated by even the most sensitive of ears. // If you'd prefer a different ear wire, drop me a line prior to ordering.
