Ruby Sterling Deco Style Vintage Solitaire Ring from Lind with a Fun History! Size 7. Glowing color and classic styling.

I do consignment for people who don't have the time or energy to list their own treasured gems, and this ring came to me via a friend of a friend who has a large collection of sterling pieces (more of which you will see listed in the days to come). This ring stood out due to the deep and lovely bright red stone. I could almost SWEAR that it is a real stone as it has inclusions under magnification consistent with an earth mined ruby, but my consignor says that it is not. I am pricing it as though it is not, (so whoever buys it may be in for a fabulous surprise!)

This ring is from Lind, a manufacturer of sterling, gold plated and 10K gold pieces since the late 1970s. It became Lindenwold in 1983. This example is early-- it is marked 'STERLING' and 'LIND' with a diamond. The style is Deco revival with its geometric shoulders. It is in excellent condition and is a size 7.

And now the ring's history. This ring was given to my consignor (who is a very sweet and capable fellow redhead by the name of Nancy) by her first high school love. It was the early 1980s: a time of winged hair, tight jeans and Love's Baby Soft. Nancy had a crush on Jake-- the coolest guy in school (he drove a Trans Am and worked at his dad's restaurant on the weekends, so he was in high demand). He took her to prom and on prom night presented her with this ring, which was her birthstone. It was her first piece of jewelry ever given to her by a boy and she was quite taken with it, wearing it everywhere. Of course, she was the envy of all of her friends.

Jake and Nancy's relationship lasted until the middle of college when they drifted apart. After school, Nancy moved back to her old hometown, got married and ended up running into Jake and his new wife. The two couples have been friends ever since-- both Nancy's husband and Jake joined the Navy within a few years of one another and the two couples have been stationed together at various places around the world. I just think that is so cool!

This ring brings all the promise of young love-- the magic of possibility and anticipation-- as well as the joy of lasting, deep friendships. I love that such great memories and energy are connected to this piece. What a wonderful thing to own or give as a gift!
