WHAT ARE THEY?
Elegant dangle earrings are made with hand-picked dark burgundy real Rubies! Our natural, opaque, genuine Rubies are full of earth's beauty and imperfections, so you'll know they're real! A rich, deep rich, almost burgundy, each Ruby is faceted by hand, set in Sterling Silver, and interspersed with Sterling Silver Beads that highlight the beauty of each Ruby. Rhodium, a relative of Platinum, keeps the Sterling Silver Bezels shining bright (NO tarnishing!)!
SIZE & SPECS
The earrings dangle approx. 1-1/2" long (38.1mm), with Sterling Silver ear wires. Each ruby is unique, and sized from approx. 5/16"-3/8" (8-10mm), set in Sterling Silver, with Sterling Silver faceted beads. Rhodium, a relative of Platinum, keeps the Sterling Silver shining bright, with no tarnishing.
WHY RUBIES?
In the ancient Sanskrit, ruby is called "ratnaraj," the King of Gemstones. Rubies are mentioned four times in the Bible, associated with attributes like beauty and wisdom. In the first century AD, the Roman scholar Pliny included rubies in his Natural History, describing their hardness and density. Ancient Hindus believed that those who offered fine rubies to the god Krishna were granted rebirth as emperors. Ruby retained its importance with the birth of the western world and remains one of the most sought-after gems of European royalty and the upper classes. Ruby is the birthstone for July and the gem for the 15th and 40th anniversaries.
